Description
For electricity meter installations, the PIU enables commissioning and calibration checks to be made when no customer load is available, including new or unoccupied sites.The small size and lightweight construction makes it an ideal unit for carrying between installation sites. When testing a three phase installation, each phase must be tested individually. If it is not possible to safely access the site CT's then it is possible to perform a secondary test using a 20/5A CT to convert the injection current to a safe level. The unit contains a flexible single phase current injection lead with 4mm banana plug style termination to provide single or multi-turn pass through of the installed client current transformers. In this way, a simulated primary load is "generated" at a level necessary for the meter system to operate in the required range.
Power is supplied to the PIU from the voltage connections at the meter test block using the supplied test leads.
